Privacy Notice

Chia Film is a reading site. It has no user accounts, no comment system, no newsletter sign-up and no payment pages, so there is very little personal data for us to handle. This notice explains what little there is, why it exists and what you can do about it.

Who is responsible

The site is run by the small editorial team behind Chia Film. For any question about this notice or about your data, write to the address on our contact page. We do not use a third-party data-protection service; messages reach the team directly.

No analytics, adverts or tracking

Chia Film is built as a set of static pages. No visitor-counting software, ad network, share widget, pixel or fingerprinting code is loaded on any page. We do not build visitor profiles, and we do not sell, rent or swap personal data with anyone.

Your cookie choice

When you first visit, a notice asks whether you accept or decline optional cookies. Because we set no optional cookies, the only thing stored is your answer, and it is kept in your own browser's local storage so the notice does not return on every page. That entry stays on your device; it is never sent to us. Clearing this site's stored data in your browser wipes it whenever you like. Our Cookie Policy sets this out step by step.

Hosting logs

Like any website, Chia Film is served from a hosting provider's computers. When your browser requests a page, the provider's systems record technical information such as the IP address, the time of the request, the page asked for, the browser type and whether the request succeeded. These logs exist to deliver pages, keep the service secure and diagnose faults. They are kept for a short period under the provider's own retention rules, and we do not combine them with other data or use them to identify visitors.

The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.

When you email us

Writing in hands us three things: the sending address, whatever name appears in the message, and the text itself. We use that information only to reply and to deal with your message, for example to correct an article. We keep the correspondence only as long as needed for that purpose, after which it is deleted. We never add your address to a mailing list. We rely on your own request, and on our legitimate interest in responding, as the legal basis.

Links to other places

A few older articles in our archive link to other websites. Any site reached that way runs under its own privacy rules, which we neither control nor see.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws, you have the right to:

  • find out whether any of your data sits with us, and get a copy of it;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased where there is no reason to keep it;
  • limit our use of it, or object to that use;
  • take the data you supplied with you in a common, machine-readable form;
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, normally the one in your home country.

A short email is all it takes to exercise any of them. We may ask for enough detail to find the message in question, and we will reply within the time the law allows.

Children

Chia Film is written for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has contacted us, let us know and we will delete the message.

Changes to this notice

If the way the site works changes, for example if a feature were added that handles data differently, this page will be updated before the change takes effect.
